Super Bowl Party at the Crib!!!

January 31st, 2012 by njk3

Everybody is invited to come watch the Patriots and the Giants fight it out at 5:00 PM on Sunday, February 5 at the Crib!!!  For those who are not in the know, this is the humble abode at 1656 Milford Street where Marx, Jared, and Jeremy live.  Steve is helping host the party too!

Desserts, snacks, main dishes, and whatever other kinds of food you want to bring are much appreciated.  If you’re like me, you enjoy Super Bowl parties more for the food and fellowship than the game itself.  So we are planning on having a game-watching room and also a room where people can hang out, play board games (Risk??  Scrabble???), and eat lots and lots of chips and dip.  Translation: feel free to come even if you aren’t a football fan!

The party will start at about 5:00 PM, thirty minutes or so before the game.  People are welcome to stay through the game and afterwards too.

Also, if you know you’re coming, please RSVP to me or Steve so that we can know who is bringing what in the way of food.  Please also bring any games that you want to play.  My email address is neilljs@gmail.com, and Steve’s is turleygfm@gmail.com.  Feel free to come anyway even if you aren’t able to RSVP.

The address and directions to the Crib are listed below.  Come ready for a good time!

Address and directions to the Crib:

1656 Milford Street
Houston TX 77006

The Crib is less than a mile north of the Rice campus.  From Bissonnet, go north on Dunlavy to Milford.  If you hit 59, you’ve gone too far.  Turn right (east) off of Dunlavy and our house is the second one on your left.  It’s got a dark red front door.  Please park on the street.  Given parking on our street, you might have to park some ways down from our house.  Knock or ring the bell.

“The Story We Haven’t Heard”- a conversation with author Sean Gladding

October 5th, 2011 by do3

Are you asking about the “big questions” in life, like “what is my purpose?”, or “why is there evil in the world?”
Are you frustrated and confused by how often the Bible is used to advance narrow political agendas? Are you someone who knows little about the Bible, but curious as to why so many consider it a big deal? Or are you a professing Christian eager for a fresh perspective on faith and scripture?

Come join us as we invite the author Sean Gladding for a conversation about the cohesive Story that ties together the Bible, and the role that Story plays in our lives.

Willy’s Pub, RMC basement 7-9 PM, Thursday October 13
AND
St. Andrew’s Presbyterian, 7-9 PM Friday, October 14
(Sean will give two different talks- come to both!)

FREE ADMISSION AND FREE LIGHT DINNER
(bar and kitchen open for purchases)

Sean’s narrative study was published in 2010 as “The Story of God, the Story of Us”. For this event, Sean will begin with a reflection on the gospel as most people have heard it, then lead a 30 minute sprint through the more majestic Story that he believes the Bible narrates.

This is NOT exclusively a Christian event. All are welcome to participate, regardless of what faith journey you’re on.
